1st Runner-Up - Best Blogger

The May issue of Hartford Magazine containing all the 2013 Best Of Winners has hit the press. Turns out I was voted "1st Runner Up" as "Best Blogger in Greater Hartford." It's quite an honor to be sandwiched between Colin McEnroe and Jim Shea – two area writers that I greatly respect and admire.

Many thanks to everyone who took the time to send a vote my way, and of course, for reading along with my story over all these years now. Thanks for helping to push me – both in my writing and as I work to shed this disease. Writing this blog is such a privledge and more healing to me than any medicine. The fact that people actually seem to enjoy reading it is a humbling and exciting bonus! So, thanks. I'm honored.

  1. Congratulations....this is well deserved! You are gifted and your level of depth and honesty is refreshing. Thanks for appearing in my inbox 2 times weekly....something I always look forward to!

    1. Thanks Lisa! It means a lot to hear that!

  2. Yay Karin! Your blog is so well written and I'm sure helpful to others who are going through similar struggles-and even for the rest of us, who have been through HL struggles in the past, and are soldiering on with all of the other various crazy burdens and heartaches life hands us. (and the joys too) But hurrah for your blog and for the internet that allows connection to people we don't know--and yet in some small way we do--and allows us to send out positive healing thoughts and prayers...
Also, i thought your cousin's presentation was great. I learned some things i should have known back when my son was going through treatment but maybe just didn't quite have the heart or the courage or whatever to do the research to learn (as you say, you put one foot in front of the other and sometimes that's as much as you can do--do what needs to be done--which for my son, was to help with his new wife and brand new baby--born in the same hospital, at the same time he was being diagnosed and treated!)
Also, Karin, I'm always unsure whether it's okay to remark on people's appearances, but you're truly gorgeous! :-)

    Best wishes,

    1. What a sweet message, Virginia. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for the compliment! I don't think anyone minds hearing that ;). All my best to you and your son.
